With the sense of entrepreneurship that characterizes the Tavares family, Ribadao began with its core business of wood trading and sawmilling and grew rapidly in the wood business sector. This lead to the establishment of a national network of distributors, that supported the further development of Ribamondego, Ribaliz, Ribalva or Ribacentro.
Expanding global operations, Ribadao established Ribacongo SPRL, based in Kinshasa, D.R. of Congo, to oversee and manage access to about 800,000 h forest. This provided an avenue to unusual and unique timber species such as wenge, iroko and sapelli, and simplified the process of supplying raw materials from the African continent to its manufacturing facilities in Santa Comba Dao.
Continuing its strategy of extending the national commercial network, Ribadao established a distribution center in Madeira Island in order to satisfy the business needs of their local customers.

Responding to the growing needs of domestic and international markets, Ribadão expands its manufacturing facilities in Santa Comba Dao.
